Oklahoma 5, Wichita State 4

NORMAN (AP) -- Russell Raley and Eric Thornton had two RBIs as Oklahoma held off Wichita State 5-4 in college baseball Tuesday night.

Wichita State (38-15) rallied in the top of the ninth inning on Phil Napolitan's double. But Garrett Patterson struck out the final two batters to preserve the victory.

Raley's two-run and Thornton's two-run double gave the Sooners (24-20) a 4-2 lead in the fifth.

Will Savage (5-3) allowed five hits and one run while striking out three in 4 2/3 innings for OU.

Patterson earned his second save of the season.

Kyle Touchett (3-2) was assessed the loss after allowing six hits and four runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Pacific Coast League

Oklahoma 5, Albuquerque 4

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Manny Alexander scored the winning run and had an RBI as Oklahoma beat Albuquerque 5-4 in a Pacific Coast League game Tuesday night.

The RedHawks (14-12) were trailing 4-3 when Jason Conti's single scored Esteban German to tie the game. After striking out two, J.B. Miadich threw a wild pitch and Alexander scored.

Vladimir Nunez (1-0) allowed one hit and no runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief for the RedHawks.

Bryan Corey (1-2) took the loss.

American League

White Sox 5, Royals 4

CHICAGO (AP) -- Carl Everett hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the eighth inning for Chicago, and rookie Tadahito Iguchi went 4-for-4 with his first major league homer.

Indians 4, Twins 2

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Travis Hafner and Casey Blake homered, and Jake Westbrook (1-5) allowed eight hits and two runs in six innings for Cleveland.

YANKEES RIPPED OFF

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) -- The slumping New York Yankees were big losers off the field Tuesday when thieves hijacked a shipment of 47,000 caps scheduled to be given away this weekend at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees have received about half the hats for the Cap Weekend giveaway Friday and Saturday against Oakland. Fans not receiving a cap will be given a voucher.
